Effects of NSPRI wall-in-wall evaporative coolant on physical properties of stored tomato

Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute developed a wall-in-wall evaporative cooling system for the storage of fresh fruits and vegetables. This is an effort in mitigating post-harvest loss The effect on physical properties tomatoes was investigated using ambient shelf as control. Weight loss, firmness colour changes were major studied. Tomatoes stored 24 days. There significantly higher weight (68%) than those coolant (32%). significant tomato (95%) (58%). retained better color while under became darkened at end period.
